Define "eating excessively". Define "expensive". For
two ferrets eating the most expensive ferret food in
the world you are talking, at the very most, for big
fat ferrets, $15 or $20 per month.
Poorer quality food means poorer health in the long
run and a poorer quality of life. Cat food is for
cats. Ferret food is for ferrets. High quality food
(read: the more expensive stuff) has higher
nutritional value, meaning your ferrets need to eat
less of it to get the nutrition they need. If you
switch from a cheaper ferret food to a more expensive
one you will probably find you save money in the long
run.
Also, if the food is too expensive, what are you going
to do if and when one of your ferrets needs surgery?
A typical ferret will have one major illness in their
lifetime requiring surgery and an average cost (all
inclusive) of about $1,000. Some won't ever have any
problems, some will have more than one. Food, as in
the best food, is about the least expensive thing you
need to worry about.
All the best,
Caity and the stupendous six
