Okay, the next one may be more useful. Wet and heavy lungs are mentioned in relation to pulmonary edema, which is what Mary also mentioned in her post:

but I do NOT know if those can occur with a necropsy where there has been some delay between death and necropsy.

Pulmonary edema can have a range of causes like heart disease, lung disease, etc.

You really need those pathology results next.
