Hi Lisa-
At Ferret Wise we did microchip for years...

The implants are supposed to be attached somewhat to skin tissue, it may
feel like it moves under the skin but should NOT gravitate if implanted
properly.

I also know Marshall's is also microchipping ferrets for international
export( Japan) -- thus this may be an export precaution for ferrets -- I
have not been given that information from the sources however.

The microchip should not pose any problems unless vets are not aware and
try to vaccinate at the site- pointing it out should solve that problems.
The good thing about the microchip- if registered it should make sure your
ferret comes back to you if lost! Have you typed the microchip- which
company is it manufactured by? Also did the ferret come with paperwork
explaining the microchip-- or did you just discover it?
