Hello Anna-
Just one thing to keep in mind - the ferret may have a retrobulbar tumor (
behind the eye- those do cause a significant amount of pain. from pressure
pressing against the back of the eye..
We had one ferret with this ( was initially diagnosed as a cataract) and as
it grew it made the eye go from blue to a green color.. then due to high
pain we did euthanize the ferret. As one vet was insistent it was an
ulcerated cataract (cornea) I asked the shelter vet to remove the eye and
check .
She did abide by the request and as I looked on . the tumor immediately
pushed through the orbiatl area of the eye. we found the tumor started in
the brain-- there would be no removing that type of mass... I send good
wishes to you and your ferret.
This may be why the vet stated he felt the ferret might not make it through
the surgery.
