Given the range of symptoms I am wondering if further imaging would make sense, if perhaps she is actually dealing with something else and the original image was confusing. Was just an x-ray done or was an ultrasound done? Ultrasounds arent too good where there is too much air, but they can give a lot of heart info.
Dr Sue had mentioned the possibility of JL (Juvenile Lymphoma) which can cause chest tumors.
Mike had mentioned that cardiomyopathy is very rare in the young (though it can happen), and past posts from Dr. Bruce Williams point out that cardiomyopathy in the very young differs from that of adults of advanced age, and there is at least one post where exactly the confusion between juvenile cardiomyopathy and JL comes up:

When we have had problems with Lasix the difficulties have been: not drinking enough and getting dehydrated, or washing out too many electrolytes and needing those supplemented, but neither looked like what you mentioned as I recall.
