This disease can only be diagnosed for sure by a biopsy of the intestines e=
tc. A pretty good indicator of this disease tho is a high eosiniphilic cou=
nt in the white blood cells.
If Sidney does have this disease, it basicly means she is allergic to somet=
hing in her kibble. She should go on a very simple diet of something she h=
as never eaten before. If her kibble is made up of chicken and wheat, try=
switching to turkey or lamb and rice formula. For a little while, I would=
try plain old meat baby food, like turkey. It is very easy to digest will=
not aggravate her tummy further. Another thing you can ask your vet about=
is vitamin b shots to increase her energy and appetitie. Some times stero=
id therapy is needed to control the allergy.
There is a LOT of info on this disease in these archives. Look under Rinky=
Dink, EGE, Eosiniphilic Gastro Entreitis. RinkyDink's was an extreme case =
but it should help give you some ideas of what you are dealing with.
