This little guy has made a turn for the better. After thinking I would loose
him on Tuesday, he has not had a breathing crises in 18 hours. Blood work
and x-ray on Wed. showed an increase in fluid buildup around the
heart/lungs, however an improvement in kidney values. His glucose was up to
105. That was a surprise as Buddy was fasted over 8 hours by mistake. Vet
tech screw up, I was there when my vet *discussed* this with him, I think he
will be much more tuned to the job at hand now. Buddy is eating better too,
gained back 2 of the 6 oz he lost. Respiration is deeper and less rapid.
Certainly a much happier ferret, and mommy.
Will leave you with a funny. I woke with a start at 2:30 this morning.
Listened for *the breathing*. No sound. I lay there thinking good, he's
getting some rest. But I had to check, maybe I woke too late? Approached the
cage, no Buddy in his usual spot the hammy, nor on the floor where he lays
flat to breath easier. He was under the hammy in the little cuddle bed. I
could hear no breathing. I cannot tell you how hard it was to open the door,
reach in to touch this little ferret. He looked at me like, *whaaaat, I'm
trying to sleep*, got into the hammy and promptly went back to sleep.
