Subject: coli and kits

Our kits have just moved to a new cage made of tree, our jill got crazy of being in the plastic nursery cage. They are around 7 weeks. The problem is they are not all going to the "toilet". That means excrement is lying on the tree, I know this can give coli infektion. Is there any cleaning produkt that kills this coli bakterie, we can clean the cage with when we remove the excrements ? We know plastic removed the problem but we thinks the plastic cages i Denmark are to small. We are considering to make a cage in acryl but this got rather expensive
