Our vet believes in three vaccinations for kits and
then once a year.

Yes, it's called Merial Purevax. It's actually the
preferred vaccination for distemper since it has a
much lower reaction rate. We have one ferret who did
react to Merial Purevax so we switched her back which
worked well for her, but as a general rule our ferrets
get Purevax.
The usual disclaimer applies: I am not a vet, just a
moderately experienced ferret owner.
