What Sukie said. :) I've been beating this drum since I wrote my first article on adrenal disease and the photoperiod link for our shelter's newsletter 5 or 6 years ago. I still believe real strongly in this. Much more so than early neutering (though that probably plays a part), genetics, Marshalls, etc., etc.
There will have to be some controlled studies to say yes, 100%, but I believe that melatonin usage early on, before the condition develops, might be a real good thing to do. If the ferret already has adrenal disease, it's probably just a band-aid.
