I hope that you are reassured now, but never feel bad about checking. In July over 3/8's of the 8,000 calls the ASPCA Poisoning line received involved people who did not read up first and as a result weren't careful with insecticides.
Some tips the ASPCA site and the FHL Archives and FML Archives mention:
For ferrets avoid over the counter products and that includes herbal products which have killed some ferrets (including pyrethrins which have taken a toll according to a what happened to an FML family in the past).
Read instructions carefully and if they don't have ferret instructions be sure to also ask your vet and keep that written info handy.
>Never use insecticide on very young, pregnant,
>debilitated or elderly animals without first
>consulting your veterinarian. (Direct quote from the ASPCA.)
>If you're using a fogger or home-premise spray, remove all pets--
>along with their food and water bowls--from the area for the
>period specified on the container. Open windows and use fans
>to air out your home, and let the product dry completely before
>allowing your animals to return... (Ditto)
Don't underestimate the value of a flea comb.
