Last night I just happened to be finishing up the transcripts of the Q&A session at the Ferret Symposium in Atlanta last October, and this very topic was discussed by the vets on the panel. So I know their answer well... check levels a couple days after surgery, then a week out, then a month, etc.

I think if you wait a month, you might find out in a way you don't want to. Like when he crashes.
