Do you have any idea what has caused the renal failure? The best bet is to find the
source and treat it if possible. Fluids would help with hydration and the creatinine
would decrease if levels were elevated due to dehydration. In humans, renagel is
usually given to help remove excess phosphorus in patients with end stage kidney
disease and is given in conjunction with dialysis. Is this the same type medication?
If he is in failure his appetite would naturally be decreased. He would feel horrible
at the toxins building up and not want to eat or do much of anything. If increasing
fluids and, perhaps, starting the renagen do not help you may want to ask for a
referral to a specialist. I hope your little guys feels better soon.
