I, too, was a bit surprised and concerned about this. The vet said 8-12
hours for fasting, so I went with 8. I'm not sure if this is his standard
procedure since this is our first surgery.

However, when he fasts the ferrets for bloodwork, it's only a 4-6 hour fasting.
