My ferret Jasper is having diahhrea... again.. It seems like he's always ha=
d bouts with it, then it goes away. 3 months ago it was so bad to the point=
he was dehydrated and lost a lot of weight, so we went to the vet for that=
, and he gradually got better. He gained weight, and was fine for a good w=
hile. I took him in about a month ago after I lost my ferret Ozzy, Jasper h=
e trying to vomit and the vet seemed to think at that time it was stress in=
duced from losing his buddy, on top of an ulcer condition. She gave me amox=
icilan to try and calm that condition down. He was better, and two weeks ag=
o I took him for a regular check up.... he was fine, healthy, good weight. =
But, I noticed this morning he kept going to a corner acting like he was go=
ing to go but didn't, I don't know if he couldn't, or if something was dist=
racting him or what. So, I stuck him in the cage separate from the others t=
o see if he'd go today. When I came home, there was an ok formed poop, but =
a couple of splotches of diahhrea. I think this might stem from the ulcer c=
ondition. But is this something I should try to treat myself? My vet said I=
could give small doses of pepto bismol... I just don't know if it's indica=
tive of something more serious or not. Like I said, he always seemed like h=
e's been the one to have diahhrea off and on ever since I've had him. He d=
oesn't seem to have any other problems. I don't want to overlook a serious =
problem if there is one, but I don't want to have to run to the vet for eve=
ry time he has diahhrea either (if, as it seems, this is an on going condit=
ion). Do any of you have any advice? Sorry for the long post! Thanks!
