I don't think there is a set limit. Our vet uses
pediapred (prednisolone) until a low dosage doesn't
work any more and then does surgery. Two of our
ferrets (Ker Avon and Podo) went for surgery very
quickly because they got little or no benefit from
pred. Kodo waited a couple of months.

Lady Ayeka is our little mystery. She's still on
.08ml (1mg/ml concentration) just once a day. Any
less and he blood glucose crashes. She's been on a
tiny dose of pediapred for two years and seven months.
Our vet theorizes that either the disease is
progressing *very* slowly or else not spreading at
all. We have never ruled out surgery for Lady Ayeka
at some future point if the pediapred stops working
for her.

FWIW, I'm up all night tonight for a (probably)
unrelated problem Ayeka is having. Next meds are at
3:45 AM.

All the best,
Caity and the furious four
