It sounds to me like your little guy has problems with his anal glands and
they may well be impacted. I would take him to the vets to have his glands=

checked/ expressed. I have one girl who has problems with her anal glands,=

but she empties them when she's relaxed, cuddling on my lap. ;-) She need=
s
to have her glands expressed periodically.

I don't mind the smell and avoid scented candles/ air freshners and the lik=
e
around ferrets. It's just unnecessary chemicals that they (and us) would b=
e
breathing in.

Hi, my little guy, by the name of Oomi, short for Oomingmak, alaskan eskimo=

for "musk ox", has unfortunately been living up to his name. H was adopted
from a shelter at about 8 months old. He was backyard bred, wasn't neutered=

until he was 8 months old, but his scent glands were left intact. As of the=

last two weeks (we've had him for about 5 weeks) he's starting expressing
his scent glands with surprising frequency and without much stimulus
(getting startled or hurt). As of late he seems to poof about every third
day, often when he first wakes up in his cage from a nap or night's sleep,
but also when trundling around the house. Sometimes he can is in the room
all alone- there doesn't seem to be any real pattern. Is this normal? What
are the symptoms of impacted scent glands? Should I invest in a scented
candle company for the next 9 years? Thanx. Pee-ew
