Cimetidine is the same as Tagamet (humans), an ulcer treatment.

Ask your vet to write a prescription for liquid sucralfate (same drug) at a
human pharmacy. You may want to call around and find out which pharmacies
carry it. It is pinkish colored and mine have all taken it quite easily.
You give it 10-15 minutes prior to feeding. I would think that putting the
carafate into something else, or washing it down with water or anything
else, might cause it just to pass on through, not coat the ulcers as it is
intended.
