Subject: Kit with frank blood in faeces
Message-ID: <6066527.1104726067991.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>

Hi!

I just brought home a new 7-8 week old female kit 2 days ago. She's been fine and alert, with a very good appetite, but this morning I noticed some of her stools from overnight were paler than the previous day, and had some frank blood. I've been watching her closely today (about 8 hours since I got up), and the blood has been present in all her stools. It's bright red, and the stools have been semi-formed and light tan, but possibly have gotten a bit runnier as the day has progressed, and a couple seem a bit mucusy...

She's still very bright and alert, so I haven't been panicking just yet, but thought I'd check if anyone has suggestions as to what it could be? She's not gulping down her food as much as when I first brought her home, but is still very interested in it, so I think this could probably be put down her being fed quite regularly, so not being as hungry...

I'm in Australia, btw (if that rules in/out some infectious diseases).

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Kalyna =o)
