I was told recently that ferrets can pick up Coccidia in an area where dogs
defecate. We like to have ferrets at our local PetCo and PetSmart education
days in playpens properly set up with bedding, toys, etc. I've been trying
to find info on the best thing to use to clean/disinfect the floor where we
set up. I found one mention of a 10% ammonia/water solution, another of 1
part bleach/30 parts water. Neither mentioned ferrets. One article said
coccidia is species specific, that was concerning sheep/cats. Miami.org
didn't have anything on coccidia in ferrets. Most of the info I did find was
how to treat, rather than prevent. I'll put in a call to my vet, but if
anyone here knows what is a good cleaning solution, I would appreciate your
input.
