I have a 5 year old castrated male ferret who over time had become more and more lethargic and uncomfortable looking to the point of not even moving and stopping in his tracks to rest/sleep.
After investigation from the vet the diagnosis was an enlarged spleen - a biopsy showed that no lymphoma was present. I opted for his spleen to be removed (after researching) and the vet said that he had a look around and everything else inside looked normal.
My ferret has made a good recovery and is back to his normal self and looks really happy. However, is there anything I should be aware of, look out for, extra care etc. possible long term problems. Only that we're in the UK and this definately is NOT a common proceedure on ferrets. (I think this is the first ferret spleen my vet has probably done.)
