Subject: 2.7 creatinine level - Help please!
Message-ID: <4104935.1104873600735.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>

My ferret was diagnosed with diabetes about 1 month ago. At the same time her kidney values were high. Phosphorus is back to normal, BUN is just slightly high, but the creatinine when last checked was 2.7 (down slightly). Also, when last checked a couple weeks ago her specific gravity showed she was still concentrating her urine. Her next appointment isn't for about 3 weeks. I understand she has irreparable kidney problems now. Will sustained values like this make it worse? How can I get the creatinine down?

She receives daily sub-q fluids - about 50mls and also drink plenty on her own. Up until 5 days ago she was on a very high protein diet(trying to get her diabetes in check). She was switched to Hill's K/D to manage the kidney disease which fortunately she likes. What else can I do that will work well with her diabetes management?
