Subject: Boo-Boo's ulcers & possible other problems?
Message-ID: <3934328.1104892868420.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>

Boo-Boo's still eating, and last feeding he made "baby noises" while eating from the syringe, the kind of noise human infants make when drinking from a bottle. And he ate quite a bit. But he's been lethargic, and he's gone to the bottom of the cage to potty and just laid there like he was too weak to come back up.

I have "rice socks" tucked around him right now to keep him warm (per vet's instructions), but folks from another group I belong to have mentioned there could be some other underlying problem like insulinoma (sp?) or anemia. He's like a limp noodle and seems very weak, but he ate very well today and last night.

I'll probably be pulling an all-nighter with him tonight to keep an eye on him, and he'll most likely be going to the vet's tomorrow morning for bloodwork.

Does anyone have any ideas of what else may be wrong given the symptoms he has so I can talk to the vet a little more intelligently while there? Someone said that insulinoma symptoms are much like that of ferrets with ulcers: weight loss, tooth grinding, diarrhea.

Right now he wont even go into the hammock or sleep sacks with the other ferrets, which is unusual for him. He's keeping to himself except for the occasional flopping on our big boy, Tocho, to sleep.
