On Tuesday morning Fester lost his battle with insulinomia. I had
adopted Fester and his cage mate Gomez ON Dec 5 2003. Fester was dx with insulinomia in Jan of 2004 and had surgery in April. During that surgery they found he had bi-lateral adrenal, they removed his left adrenal, insulinomia, they removed 3 golf ball sized tumors, lymphoma, removed 3 lymphnodes and an aortic aneurism(sp). The vet really did not think Fester would make it for 2 more months. Well at that 2 month check his sugars levels were perfect with OUT pred. So we did a watch and see. Well in Sept he started showing signs of insulinomia again so pred was stared at.5mg twice daily. As that started to fail we upped it till he was on 1.5mg twice daily. 2 weeks ago he really started to take a turn for the worse. I started feeding him duck soup 2-3 times a day. Then on Sunday he stopped being able to stand up so I was feeding him round the clock every 2-3 hours duck soup. Tuesday morning my son woke up to hearing what he said was a ferret crying. I ran upstairs as fast as I could and there was no sound. I checked Fester and said that it must of been some of the other ones playing and making noise. Well no sooner then I said that and Fester went into another seizure. I ran and got the Karo. That seemed to help. THen the next one was worse. This went on for almost an hour before I got ahold of the vet(this started at 6am) There was no help in getting him out of the seizures. He was gone. I ran him up to the vet to help him cross over. He was very good to mommy. He did not have a seizure the whole ride to the vets(20 min ride) till we got to the vet and then he had anohter 5 min long one. After he finished that one I helded him and said my goodbyes and told him how sorry I
was if he was ready to go before that time. I told him that MissItt was up waiting for him and he would be whole again and in no more pain. So on Tuesday December 28 2004 at 7:50am Fester was helped across the bridge.

Fester you will always be missed and Mommy loves you very much. I hope you come and tell me when you are ready that everything is ok.
