Cardiomyopathy is the most common cause of ascites and edema, but such fluid problems can also happen with other things at times, including some other types of heart disease, kidney disease, and lymphoma/lymphosarcoma. Lasix/Furosemide and other meds to suit the situation encountered prove very useful.
