Hi, Olivia:

I'm waiting right now for the doc to call me about the phone consult he had with
someone else regarding Boo-Boo's lab results. They listened to his heart and lungs
and said all was fine. They did all the usual stuff, palpating the tummy (feeling for
any enlargements), etc.

They didn't mention weight gain being from possible fluid retention, but if his
kidneys aren't functioning properly then I could see how this could happen---
maybe. He pees like a race horse, so I don't know.

This is all so confusing right now that I'm about as confused as I can get. As for
feeding him, I'm giving him food every 4hrs round the clock, but I've pretty much
nixed the Nutra-Cal until I know what to do about his blood sugar since the stuff is
mostly sugar.

I have so many concerns, especially regarding his diet. I know they need nutrients
that ferret kibble has that the gravy doesn't. I'm tired, stressed, freaking out right
now so I'm having a brain burp as to the main nutrient. There's one cup of kibble in
the gravy recipe, but I don't know if this is enough to give him what he needs. The
vet told me to not buy any pet tinic until we know what's what with the labs.

I'm talking in circles and jumping around a bit. I apologize. Fatigue and worry are
taking their toll. That and I ran out of my thyroid hormones over a week ago and
can't get anymore so I have resulting brain fog with that as well.

I do very much appreciate your writing me. I truly do.

A rapid weight gain like that sounds more like fluid. How is his heart? I only mention
this because when my ferret had a weight gain with decreased eneregy and faster
breathing, he had a heart problem. Enlarged lymph glands can be from infection. I'm
sorry I'm not much help. I don't think feeding him every 8 hours is a good idea. My
understanding is that ferrets need to eat about every 3-4 hrs. Olivia
