Thank you. I'm trying hard to stay together on this. How would I check the roof of
his mouth? The reason I ask is that he's not much of a yawner when scruffed. Is
there another way?
I don't detect any hind-leg weakness (would it be fairly evident?), and I've not
noticed a fowl odor of the breath. He gives me lip and nose lickies after eating and
just for the heck of it and I've not detected any bad odor.
Does CRF raise the blood sugar? His was sent to a lab, taken the night before and
sent to the lab the following day, and his values were 346.
Also, I failed to remind the doc that just two weeks ago when Boo-Boo was VERY
thin (2lbs) the doc saw him and felt his lymph glands and said they were "normal"
and that they were so small that he couldn't get a needle in them. 2mos ago they
were enlarged and he was put on antibiotics because they thought it was a virus. 2
weeks ago we were told the above, and now they are enlarged again. The doc on
the phone erroneously mentioned that Boo-Boo's glands were swollen last time...
but they weren't. I don't know what to think about this. Any ideas? Or is it normal
if he has lymphoma for the lymph to enlarge, go back to normal, then enlarge?

With kidney problems it's usually severe dehydration that you'd be concerned about.
And there are other symptoms as well, such as lack of appetite, foul odor of the
breath, oral ulcers (you can check Boo Boo's mouth - especially the roof), lethargy,
hind leg weakness, fever, frequent urination, etc. Lots of info in the archives on this
as well. Diabetes can be misdiagnosed for CRF (chronic renal failure) and vice-versa.
It doesn't mean ALL ferrets will have ALL of these symptoms. What I'm trying to get
at is before jumping the gun because someone "suggests" something here - you
need to research it first. You're the one who sees his behaviour, energy levels, etc. I
understand you're under a lot of pressure right now trying to help your little one.
But you need to take of yourself as well, because if you burn out or "crash", you
won't be able to help anyone, Boo Boo included.
