The cases I knew about had to do with KayTee Fiesta, a
ferret food with large pieces of dried fruit. I
didn't hear of choking cases although considering the
big pieces of dry papaya that sure could happen. I do
know of two cases involving blockages, one
successfully removed with surgery, one fatal. In each
case the problem was the dried fruit and veggies in
the food that ferrets simply can't digest, not the
kibble itself.

If you use high quality kibbled ferret food (i.e.:
Totally Ferret, 8-in-1 Ultimate, Mazuri, The Ferret
Store Superior Choice, Zupreem Ferret Diet, etc...)
you shouldn't have a problem. Whether these foods are
higher in carbs than is ideal for ferrets is an
entirely different discussion.

All the best,
