Thank you, Dr. Sue. They did not get any urine samples last week. When you say "muscle changes," are you speaking perhaps of atrophe? If that's the case, and I'm just guessing here, but when he lost all that weight in a short period of time he looked like he lost lean muscle mass, too. the reason I say this is due to the jutting hip bones, etc... it just "felt" like he lost mass. I suppose, just guessing again, that this could also be the reason he's putting on so much 'fat,' because the lean tissue he had before is considerably less?

I really appreciate your help. Thank you again.

CRF doesn't cause elevation in blood glucose, stress (and prednisolone can
if he happens to be on it)though. Lymph node changes
infection, inflammation, cancer, or fat around the nodes. You mentioned a
sudden weight gain and often if this is true the nodes may feel big, but if
you feel carefully you can feel the actual node underneath some fat.
Diabetes is rare but does happen, is there glucose in the urine? Ketones?
Kidney values may be elevated for other reasons, lab error being one, one
can be up if there is dehydration, or sampling technique. I have seen
creatinine go up with severe muscle changes too. This is usu a milder
elevation. If your kid is not showing signs I don't think he has it totally
but I would certainly monitor for it. How is the specific gravity of his
urine, is he concentrating urine, is there protein in the urine? Has a
urine even been done? Anyway just some thoughts hope they help you ask more
questions. Best to you.
Dr. Sue
