has he always had that smell? If he has then it is just his personal odor.

If his smell has changed and he did not smell that way then consider that he might have an adrenal growth and discuss your options with your vet.

The thing is to look for change. We've had one ferret who never had any personal odor. (Since stink is status we had to perfume her and her insecurities and misbehavior went away when we did that, too!) On the other hand we have had a few who always wafted their own personal takes on a pronounced skunk-like smell through any room they entered. That was just them and their own individual features. So, if it has always been present since adulthood began it does not necessarily mean that adrenal neoplasia is present (though some do get it early).

I recommend that all who are interested in this discussion read past posts on things beign tested for preventing or delaying adrenal growths: enough complete darkness (14 hours per every 24), melatonin implants, Lupron shots in Spring in the FHL Complete Archives:
