Hi Amanda,

In my experiences the urine smell you describe is usually present when there is a
renal issue .

HaMy suggestion is to have a blood panel done to check renal function on your kid.
You may have caught a kidney infection-- and perhaps you can correct it before
things progress to renal failure or compromise.

We have several 8-9 year old ferrets with renal issues... buyt we have been watching
them for over a year and they are doing well even though they are in failure- at
some time these poor critterrs organs get too tired-- with supportive care you can
provide quality catre though-- the trick is in catching the progression and being
able to treat it .

Best wishes,

Alicia D, shelter mom
