Location is a major factor regarding the amounts of added minerals and chemicals in tap water. It varies from city to city. Chlorine is a big one. Looking at a bottle of spring water in front of me, it gives you a breakdown of all the different levels of minerals, etc. in it. Distilled water from my understanding has pretty much nothing in it. I'd double check the analysis panel on the side of a bottle or jug if you want to know for sure.

In the end, you might have a problem getting them to drink the distilled water anyway. Some ferrets are as fussy with changes in the taste of their water, as they are with food.

You also need to keep in mind that if you were to decide to use distilled, the ferrets will be losing out on these minerals in their diets. I guess it boils down to deciding which of the 2 evils is worse.

Hope this answers your question.
