Thank you for the information about anesthesia, this time it was too late to do differently.
I think the vet used acepromzine before isoflurane. I will ask better next week when we are going to have the stitches removed.
After the injection of acepromazine, in less than 5 minutes, Gigio was "relaxed", fully awake but unable to walk away, he even tolerated the shaving machine near to his ear.
If acepromazine can not do this by its own, then it may have been a combination with acepromazine/ketamine. Then he was put under anesthesia with isoflurane and once the procedure ended and was separated from the gas mask, he recovered very quickly (1-3 minutes) but he was hypotermic, I had to hold him and wrap him in blankets and heat him with my body for about 30 minutes.
In our next visit to remove stitches, I would like to know what can be given to Gigio to make the process easier and less painfull, remember he has stitches right over his eye, and he struggles very hard simply by trying to put cream over the wound, I can immagine how mad is he going to be the day of stitches removal, I dread that he may hurt his delicate eye by struggling, he will definitely is going to need some kind of sedation. What do you suggest?
Thank you very much,
Caterina.
