I have an 8yr. old ferret. Receives lupron 4mon.depot for adrenals. Has been on prednisone and proglycem (diaoxide) for the past 4 yrs for insuloma's.
The past month she has been having trouble eating. Teeth grinding, apparent nausea and now pawing at the mouth. I did two, 2 week tratments of amoxicillon. First 2wk. treatment helped alot, but this last time did not help.
I gave her carafate, but she gagged and pawed until she could get it up in a foamy mess. That was a week ago.
I purchased a fresh bottle now and thought i would try again.
My question : I feed her Bob Church chicken gravy and have always put her sugar meds right in the soup. How long before her meal with the sugar meds. added can I give her carafate?
Also, if you have any other thoughts on her refusal to eat well, nausea, teeth grinding and mouth pawing,Please let me know.
She is also drinking an excess of water. I know that if she stops eating all together I will loose her. I have nursed this ferret for many years.
She is active and behaves like a normal ferret so long as I don't feed her. I need to do something.
Thank you for any help... Mo
