I have previously owned ferrets many years ago but on each occasion it was as a single. I now have the opportunity to adopt a pair of kits. One of the pair is not exhibiting that she can be separated as yet. My concerns are that will a pair bond with me as well as a single?

This decision is one which may be best determined on your allotted time with the ferrets. There are sevetral sides to the issue in determining how many. One will definitely bond more with a caretaker- 2 provides greater companionship for the other when left unattended by humans. Young kits do stay active longer and might be prone to lonliness alone- while older ferrets seem to mind being unattended (IM experiences) less.

Trainig is another issue tooo- one ferret is easier to train than 2.. The second one may well distract the first or reinforce a bad behavior. These fur creatures have antics of ther own and think enough to get into a lot of trouble multiply that whe additional ferrets are in the equation.

As far as upkeep.. I find 2 ferrets are not that much more work but additional ones above 2 ferrets per cage can be! Best of luck i determining what your ferret number will be!
