Subject: Annual Distemper Booster

A friend of mine has 4 ferrets, all of which are about 2.5 years old. They =
all received their series of 3 distemper shots when she first got them as k=
its. B/t moving, and dealing with a very ill family member she has not had =
time to make arrangements for their yearly distemper boosters. As a result,=
the last distemper shot her ferrets received was the third shot of the ser=
ies which was sometime b/t 1yr & 8 months to 2yrs ago. She asked me if her =
ferrets would need to go through the entire series of 3 distemper shots all=
over again? Or if it be okay, and still effective, to just continue with a=
yearly booster? She doesn't want to continue giving a yearly booster if -i=
n the end- its not going to be effective because they missed almost 2 years=
of boosters. But she also doesn't want to have to pay the money for a seri=
es of 12 vet visits if its really not necessary. She came to me with this d=
ilemma since I am a ferret owner as well; but I really didn't know what to =
tell her. I told her to call the Vet and ask, but she's afraid that no matt=
er what the "honest" answer is, the Vet will say to go through the 3-series=
again, to ensure he gets 12 Vet visits! Haha... Sooo, I told her I'd try a=
nd get an answer! Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks! =
