Steve, It sounds like this was an immediate reaction and is mostly on one side of the
ferrets face. I would also like to suggest that if you do not find that this ferret has
distemper, then consider the possibility of contact with a substance that would
cause an allergic reaction. You don't show pictures of the opposite side of the head
but it doesn't look swollen from the picture you have on line. If this is unilateral
swelling of the face with patchy hair loss and was fast developing in nature there
may have been exposure to a toxin. agree that the hind end swelling does not look
like adrenal vulvular swelling. It may also be that the hind end swelling is from
contact with a similar spot when your ferret brushed butt on the floor, blanket, etc.
after going to the potty. Please keep up informed as to what is happening.
