Hello,
I was wondering if it was possible for a ferret to have adrenal insufficiency when only one adrenal gland is removed. My ferret had his left adrenal gland removed 8 months ago and since then he has been gradually declining in health. He is gradually getting more tired, weaker, off balance, neourological problems, extreme muscle cramps/spasms,and possible colon issues. He has a hard time eating sometimes. He eats chicken baby food and grinds his teeth sometimes. I think sometimes it is difficult for him to swallow.
Is hypoadrenocorticism possible with one adrenal gland remaining?
Should I have an adrenal panel done?
How else can you diagnose addisons or adrenal insufficiency?
Does anyone have experience with this, and what symptoms happen?
Thankyou very much
