Since this will be information to others, I would put a disclaimer about " we are not vets" or something like that and I would add the very strong recommendation for the person should take the ferret to the vet for confirmation of diagnosis. Since a fever, cough, nasal congestion could also be from pneumonia or other diseases that require antibiotics, maybe Chest X-ray, and vet care.
Be careful with triaminic, and even bendaryl. THese are name brands and although the plain ones may be fine, they also make
"Benadryl cold and cough" or Triaminic for colds and fevers
so those could have extra ingredients, like acetaminophen ( tylenol) which is fatal to ferrets. ALWAYS read the label of ingredients before buying the over the counter meds to make sure you have the right one.

I have searched the messages for an actual set of instructions on treating for the flu, but I can only find bits here and there. Does anyone have a document besides the one about force feeding that tells what to do to treat the flu in a ferret? i.e. how much benadryl or triaminic?, how often?, how much fluids? how often?, how often to give chicken gravy? for how long? treating with a fever reducer and what kind to use , how much and how often? any symptoms besides the normal flu symptoms to watch out for? If you can get me this info and any other info you feel is pertinent I will be glad to create a document and post it in the files section of our group.
