Hi, Robin, and everyone else,

Malignancies in adrenal tumors (adrenal carcinomas)
are quite common. Metastasis (spreading) is very
rare. Yes, one of our ferrets did have an adrenal
carcinoma metastasize and yes, it did kill her. From
what I understand that happens in well under 5% of
cases.

Our Nyssa had an adrenal tumor which turned out to be
a carcinoma removed almost four years ago. She's
still here and has had no further problems either with
the other gland or with metastasis. Avon and Pertwee
each lived four years after theirs were removed with
no further problems related to adrenal disease.

In other words, in all liklihood, your ferret won't
have further problems.

All the best,
Caity and the fabulous four
