One of my ferrets was digging on our dishwasher (because we had screwed in a 2X4
underneath it to block an opening) and she got one of her front nails caught in a
seam on the washer.

She started shrieking and when I realized I could not get her uncaught I ran to get
the nail clipper and in that time she ripped her nail out, completed. It bled forever
and I felt terrible!

It took about 6 weeks for it to grow back and when it did it was unformed and very
thick, but once I trimmed it off it grew out like the rest of her nails. So your ferret
will be fine :).
