Was anyone in your family sick before he became sick?

I was diagnosed with a lung infection and learned that White spots on
the lung xrays could possibly be a sign of bacteria such as in
bronchopneumonia. We tried 2 antibiotics, one I mnimally responded to
(Ketek - ketolide), one I marginally responded to (Avelox -
fluoroquinolone), before we stumbled on a third that worked well for
me, Rosephin (cephalosporin). The steroid injection took down
inflammation which did make me feel better but without the proper
antibiotic the infection would still be present. Unless we know what
bacteria we are treating, when one antibiotic doesn't work we try
another. Not all antibiotics work on the same bacteria.

Symptoms may include - fever, cough (dry or productive), chills, rapid
shallow breathing, headache, nausea, fatigue (in ferrets lethargy),
crackle sound in lungs (sometimes difficult to hear in tiny ferret
lungs).

Here is a site on bronchopneumonia in dogs -

You may want to talk to your vet about a possible lung infection in your
little one.

Be watchful for sinus stuffiness. I've seen this in addition to
pneumonia in ferrets.

Note: Pneumonia can also be caused by fungi. Antibiotics won't cure
viral pneumonia.
