The tresaderm was enough for mine. After 2 weeks of the ear drops both were back to normal. No steroids necessary.

I would clear it with your vet before switching medications or using one that wasn't prescribed for him. Usually, this can just be done over the phone and won't require another visit.

He is swaying his head severely when he lifts it, so much so that we have to hold his head still to feed him the babyfood (he has a very good appetite). The vet gave us Tresaderm drops yesterday to be used once a day for two weeks, off two weeks then repeat. We are also using Otomite Plus to treat the rest of the ferrets in the house.

The vet also gave us compounded Metrondiazole to help with the ulcer but he had the usual foaming, gagging, etc. The vet said that may also help with his ears but that is stressful for both of us and I wear more than he ingests. After searching the archives, I am seeing that Dr. Murray suggests pediapred, which I have on hand, in conjunction with the Tresaderm. I was wondering if it would be appropriate to give it to Aries as I know it will delay healing of the ulcer or if there is something else we could try until we can talk to the vet? If so, he is approximately 2.5 pounds so what is the dosage? Thank you!
