Subject: Question about hind leg weakness

We have a 4 yr old little girl that does have insulinoma that we are
"treating" with pred at this time. (We plan to have her surgery done
soon.) She has just started displaying hind leg weakness this weekend
but it it different from what we have seen in the past with other
ferrets. Not only does her hind end fall to the side after she walks a
little but her feet are turning under so that she is walking on the top
of them. This leads me to feel that something else might be involved.
She is a rescue and we have had her since the end of Oct. I do know
that she came into the shelter in terrible condition and is now the last
one of her 4 original cage mates to still be alive. She is eating and
drinking fine on her own and her bowel movements are normal.
The other thing that is different is that she has very little control of
her bowels and bladder, meaning she will go not matter where she is. It
is like she doesn't actually feel the sensation that would tell her to
get to a litter box. A lot of time she never stops walking, seeming
totally unaware that she is using the bathroom. We have wonder ever
since she came home with us if she might have suffered a lower back
injury at sometime.
Has anyone else seen the problem with their ferrets feet turning under
like this with their insulinomic ferrets?
Thanks, Jane
