We use that also and it got rid of the kid's earmite problems. It works a little bit slower than the drops, but the vet says it's far safer and helps with heartworm, etc. (as mentioned below). They've not had mite problems since we've begun the Revolution (for cats), and our vet gives us dosage in the form of how many "drops" to put on their scruff.

An interesting aside: The vet said that an added benefit to the drops on the scruff is that if they bite each other there in play and get some on their tongue, etc. it's not only safe but can help ward off internal parasites as well.

I am not a vet. My favorite treatment for critters on ferrets is
Revolution. It kills fleas, ticks, ear mites, sarcoptic mange mites,
several kinds of internal worms and prevents heartworm disease.
