Tresaderm is for fungal, yeast, and bacterial infections in the ear.
Any anti-mite action it has is purely incidental. Supposedly it will
kill a few mites, but is not particularly good at it. Your ferret
really needs to be on miticide as well.
Ivomec (ivermectin) and Revolution (selamectin) are both good choices.
I've personally had better success with the Revolution, and even used
it to treat a mild case of mange (sarcoptic mites, as Russell pointed
out).
Please ask your vet about adding a miticide, even if it's the Otomite
you're using with the others. Prednisone might help with the itching
and inflammation, but probably isn't good for his stomach at this
point, like Sukie said. The Tresaderm already contains a topical
steriod to help with itching anyway.
Good luck!
I am not a vet.
