Last night Sissy took a drastic turn for the worse. She was barely able
to move around, started soiling herself and the bedding and simply
looked bad. While cleaning her up I discovered a large mass in her
abdomen. This mass was not there (or not large enough to be noticed)
last week. She was still very interested in eating, licking the plate
with the baby food on it clean. This morning we went to the vet but I
already knew what the outcome was going to be. He thought the mass was
originally her spleen and that this was probably lymphoma and that she
would not be able to handle surgery. We have seen this before and knew
from that experience that things were not in Sissy's favor. She was in
obvious pain last night and this morning. We made the decision to let
her go and to not subject her to surgery and chemo. B/c of the way this
presented itself, I can't help but feel that the cancer was already in
other parts of her body, including her spine.
Thank you for all the input, Jane
