The only info I've been able to come up with so far is that lymphocytic adrenalitis causes idopathic Addisons, so if both adrenals are involved your ferret will wind up needing either Percortin and Prednisolone, or Fludrocort/Florinef and Prednisolone, and you should test the sodium/potassium levels and watch hydration.

Has this ferret been on Lysodren? Many years ago we had Lysodren cause cortical atrophy in the healthy adrenal that particular ferret had.

One source mentions that it can be an autoimmune disorder in some individuals.

I could not find any articles on it in ferrets, but in other species it can sometimes be associated with problems of the thyroid or of the pituitary.
