Hi! My name is Carol and I am new to the group. I have a rather perplexing
question. One of our ferrets was rescued through a friend of ours who owns
a pet store. The person brought three ferrets in he wanted to "get rid" of.
He was so angry about the health of the ferrets he just wanted the guy out
of his store and didn't get a ton of information. We do know that he
cleaned the cage with Clorox. One ferret immediately died, one (the one I
have) went bald, and one was normal. According to the person my ferret had
been bald for approximately one year. Her vulva was also enlarged and she
was diagnosed with adrenal disease. The vet started her on antibiotics for
some dental caries as well as PetTinic. No treatment for the adrenal
disease. I have had the ferret since October. Currently the ferret has
hair on its entire body (some places more than others) and the vulva has
completely gone down in size. I took her back to the vet and was told shwas not
adrenal anymore". So the first thing I did was find a different
vet. I have done research on the internet and I can't find any information
regarding these symptoms. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be
going on with her

Thanks a lot
Carol

[Mioderator's Note: there is a lot that can be done with adrenal disease: surgery,
Lupron, Lupron and also Melatonin Implants. Please, be sure to see
