I have had no problems with a "4 times a day" feeding schedule for ferrets that won't eat on their own, even ferrets with insulinoma. Of course those were also on pred. That's roughly every 6 hours, give or take. 8 hours is probably a little bit long between meals. If his glucose levels are not a problem, 8 hours *may* be doable, but I wouldn't push it that far. They also got about 35 ml each time, and that was even for Beasley who was nearly 5 pounds... up from his normal 3.5 pounds before being on pred and a soft diet.
